Q4 2020 Performance of Top Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps in Australia on Android

In the fourth quarter of 2020, Australia saw varying performance among the top carpooling and ridesharing apps on the Android platform. Insights from Sensor Tower reveal the trends in downloads and weekly active users for these services.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides maintained a steady download trend, starting at around 9.7K downloads in the last week of September and peaking at approximately 12.3K downloads in the first week of December. The app's weekly active users slightly declined from roughly 77K in late September to around 72K by mid-October, but experienced a growth spurt, reaching approximately 89K in the second week of December.

Uber - Request a ride downloads began at about 7.1K and increased to nearly 9.6K by the end of December. Weekly active users showed a more pronounced upward trend, starting at around 252K and escalating to over 335K in the final week of 2020.

For Ola, Safe and affordable rides, downloads saw a dip from approximately 4.7K to 3.7K between late September and early November, followed by a recovery to about 5.5K by year-end. The weekly active users for Ola fluctuated, with a high of around 132K in late November and ending the quarter at a peak of approximately 147K.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver showed an interesting pattern in downloads, with a sharp increase from about 2K to 3.3K in mid-October. The numbers then stabilized, closing the quarter at around 1.7K downloads. Active users remained relatively steady, with a slight decrease from 42K at the quarter's start to 39K at its end.

Lastly, Ola Driver had a volatile quarter in terms of downloads, peaking at nearly 2.5K in early December from a low of around 415 in mid-October. Weekly active users saw an overall growth, starting at 4.1K and climbing to over 7.3K by the close of 2020.
